Yapahuwa Paradise Resort

Conveniently located along the road leading to the Yapahuwa Rock Fortress in the vicinity of the Yapahuwa Railway Station, the Yapahuwa Paradise Resort could be the best accommodation, a traveller could find in this area.

It has been quite nicely designed with a traditional architectural touch, including most of the modern amenities a classy hotel should have. The large well-maintained garden, allows the guests the opportunity to roam about without any disturbance and relax as they wish. The well-designed swimming pool would of course be an absolute remedy for the weary traveller specially after a hike to the Yapahuwa ruins (which are just 2 km away) under the battering tropical sun.

The hotel consists of four units of 2-storeyed blocks named “Araliya”, “Olu”, “Nelum”, and “Manel”, each one having 2 rooms in each floor. All of them have been built centered between the swimming pool area and a small artificial lake.

Getting There…

If you are coming along Padeniya-Anuradhapura A28 road or along B326 from Nikaweratiya:

1. Turn towards Maho at the Daladagama Junction.
2. Continue passing the Maho town along B326 for 6 km until you meet the Yapahuwa Junction. (Maho is on the halfway mark of this stretch.)
3. Take the right fork on the Y-junction and continue for another 500 m. The entrance to the hotel should be on your left.

If you are coming along B326 from Madagalla towards Maho:

1. Turn towards Maho at the Madagalla Junction.
2. Continue along B326 for 11.5 km until you meet the Yapahuwa Junction.
3. Turn left and continue for another 500 m. The entrance to the hotel should be on your left.

Travel Notes

Following are based on the visit to the Yapahuwa Paradise Resort on 2011-09-08.

• The room was very clean, spacious and nicely furnished.
• The quality of the food was quite good. However, they only had set menus and always preferred to room-deliver the meals.
• Garden, the small artificial lake and the swimming pool were very well maintained.
• There were several groups of wedding photographers with their crew, who happened to be shooting even within the area reserved for the in-house guests. This continued all through the day time-to-time. This was quite disturbing to the guests, and apparently the hotel staff did not care!
